They don’t name tv movies like they use to
February 28, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’m doing research on Helen Mirren for some Oscar stuff I’m writing and noticed that her first apperance on television was on something called, "The Extravanganza of Golgotha Smuts" in 1967. Unfortunatly not available from Netflix. Photo found via. In a related search on imdb.com, I found a 1979 UK tv show or movie called "Electric Eskimo". I love the description:
A young Eskimo boy accidentally gets hit by a mysterious ray during a
secret British experiment and finds that he is now electrified.

Consumer Report: Fables

Speaking of comics, I’ve lent out volumes 1-6 of the collected "Fables" to Pam, Tish, and Jamie. And they all seem to really enjoy it as well. So maybe you might like it also? If you were, say, stuck in re-hab, or, if you broke your leg because that pop machine finally fell on you when you kept shaking it to get your Cherry Coke Zero, I’d bring them over for you to read to help pass the time.

Timothy McSweeney’s LISTS

Even though McSweeney’s Lists rejected my list of “Meats That Are Okay For Vegetarians To Eat”, I still find the ones they do select funny.
The Mildly Disturbing Greeting-Card Messages list includes this gem,
Merry Christmas! Here’s hoping you don’t find coal in your stocking, as its dust contains several known carcinogens.
AND a bonus reference to “hobo blood”.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a general health/medical story without some other "expert" in the same story offering a direct contradicting opinion:
However, Dr Ann Walker, of the Health Supplements Information Service, said the findings of the study were "worthless".

Whole Wide World Clip On Youtube
February 27, 2007 · 2 Comments
Finally! Someone posted the best scene from the movie Stranger Than Fiction, where Will Ferrell sings "Whole Wide World". I think that’s the only part of the movie I really liked. I wish Maggie would of let him finish the song before making out with him. Sometimes I sing the song to someone while playing my harp. And she throws things at me to stop.
