Consumer Report: Semiramis is good

So for 6 bucks, you can get a whole, lemony roasted chicken at Semiramis in Albany Park (it’s just a bit west of Lincoln Square) on Kedzie. It comes with a large portion of rice and some garlic mousse. I like that it also comes tightly bundled in a thin (lavosh?) bread. So, like I told Tish, who I had shared the Semiramis take-out with, you can just pick it up and eat it like a burrito, bones and all. "I’d like to see you do that," she said. I did not but only because I had already started eating it with a knife and fork. Maybe next time.

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past or something
October 25, 2007 · No Comments
I took a walk to the hot dog joint about five blocks from me tonight for dinner, on the weird curved stretch of Lincoln Avenue that’s not all new coffee shops and restaurants yet. Just some run down places, some empty new condos, a magic shop (shoppe?), and a Ukrainian barber shop that still advertises "fades". It’s weird how many people there are in Chicago yet on so many blocks there are no people on the streets at night. I guess that’s good for when I want to take dumb photos. Less embarrassing. The title is a quote from the last Spiderman movie. Ah man, the cat just figured out she can jump on the kitchen table in order to find out if she likes french fries. I found myself saying in a weird voice, "No, we don’t DO that…"

Rambo riding a unicorn back tattoo

You can see it here. So inaccurate. Rambo is not a virgin. Yet…I agree he does have a pure soul despite the killing and pain (THEY drew first blood, not Rambo!) so maybe he COULD ride a unicorn?

"If you’re on pins and needles waiting for the Nov. 24 debut of the SciFi Channel movie "Battlestar Galactica: Razor," help is at hand. You may only have to wait until Nov. 12.
There will be free screenings of the film in movie theaters in eight cities on Nov. 12: Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and, yes, Chicago. The screenings will take place at multiple locations in each city, but all of the screenings will be on the evening of Nov. 12.
The Chicago-area screenings are at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago, the Century 16 Deer Park in Deer Park and the Century Evanston 18 in
Evanston.Admission is free, but those who want to see “Razor” at a movie theater must first register at the site battlestarevent.com. The site will not go live until Friday. Repeat: The site will not go live until Friday. Seat registrations will be given away first-come, first-serve." — from marketing email (thanks, Dan!)

My friend Colleen (who is now a full time DJ! hire her!) in NYC told me she happened on the “How to Cook Docomodake” art show/ambient ad thing and liked it.
